No doctors we know who could attend ? Given the wealth of systematic tweaking that characterizes many of EC' s trials , this would be interesting - is this the norm, or an anomaly for this illness?

Who will she be "defending medical science" against, I wonder? Vexatious patients??

If she is going to cover her "research" then she is going to use alternative facts and claim its medical science?
Is there not some sort of ethics board that regulates her profession and credentials?

    Oxford English definition of "post-truth":

"Relating to or denoting circumstances in which objective facts are less influential in shaping public opinion than appeals to emotion and personal belief".

Won't this mean that Crawley will be on the wrong side of this debate, given that she bases her work on her own personal belief of CFS rather than the objective facts (aka biological research)?

Nice of them to lay on a bit of satirical entertainment in the evenings, these conferences can get rather boring otherwise.

Oh, hang on, it says Plenary Sessions - Program Highlights :jawdrop: - so they're going to try and discuss this during the day with straight faces and without a hint of irony?

Good luck with that. Hope no-one in the audience googles EC during her star turn - the top result is from Bristol Uni, the next 8 are heavily critical. Maybe they'll disable the internet during her talk this time so that she can maintain her charade.

    I thin
I think Dr Crawley might already be regretting volunteering for this.

There is an old saying: Anything you say may be taken down in a notebook and used as evidence.

I'm really hoping you're keeping that notebook under lock and key @Jonathan Edwards! It sounds too valuable to lose!

Eureka. Now I see that the use of the Sunday Times mock-up was legitimate defence of science in the post-truth era.

Such a shame we have not moved with the times. Or even the Sunday Times.

"... that is our patients" is a phrase that cannot correctly exist in the English language, especially in a sentence about summarizing complicated messages.
Fish in a barrel. Can't be bothered.

@Sly Saint I'm confused about the tweet from John Kopsidas (who I've never heard of before). What point is he making? What is he for or against?
