At last a good decision ...poor MS ...what excuses is he going to come up with now?...I don’t care about the article as long as we can stop MS, Wessely etc using it as justification/endorsement.

A huge thanks to all those who made this happen

Think it might be timely to pull out the “thing of beauty quotes” from Wessely?

I could believe he might be busily engaged in another blog post? :)
One thing you can always rely on ... is MS will invariably have an excuse ready.

Blaming patients for being anti science and malicious and stupid
Its about the playbook for reality deniers and it usually works out for them.
    Eventually the tide turns...

I think it’s notable that they’ve had to resort immediately to the bullying activist line - because they do not have anything of substance to use to support their position.

Unfortunately Clare and hubby are extremely influential with medics. Clare’s projects include caring for the mental health and well being of GPs, so lots of visibility and gratitude, Sir lord reigious Simon is virtually untouchable but has many connections and influence.

But this is generally brilliant news.

I just very much dislike sick knowledgeable patients fighting for truth and justice dismissed as “bullying activists” it is a way to immediately draw sympathy for the persecuted scientists and discredit us.

    FINALLY!!

I'm not even bothered about the expected pouting - this is really happening!!

And amongst the pouting, this very quotable statement from Tovey: “This not about patient pressure,”

    and:

“We are in discussion with the review author team about this review following a formal complaint to me as Cochrane’s editor in chief, which we judged to raise important questions.”

And as we all know, even without seeing the actual questions - there are no good answers to them. Finally - someone listened!

Edit: And a heartfelt thank you - to those that made this happen!

The title of this thread should be changed.
The Cochrane CBT review is separate from the Cochrane exercise review.

Oh! I hadn’t picked up on that. Is this only about CBT not GET also?

She's a new name for me, but I understand from your comment that she is married to Wessley? Or am I misunderstanding...? :)

    No, no misunderstanding.

Conversation around the dinner table must be delightful, "So darling, how many sick people did you cause to have totally ineffective, and possibly harmful, treatment today??"

I too was mistaken and thought it was CBT/ GET, and @dave30th tweet referred to them both.

I ‘ll need to read the Reuters thing again. It was awful. Who is Kate Kelland?

She was also Chair of the RCGP ( Royal College of General Practitioners) so they are “a power couple.”
