Join Citizen Scientist, Marian Lemle & ME/CFS Researcher, Bindu Paul MSc, PhD., Fireside Zoom Chat for a discussion about how Community Leaders have impacted the landscape of ME/CFS Research.

We understand that diverse environments and issues found in today’s ME/CFS communities will have a great implication on research. For this reason, Solve M.E.’s new webinar series, “Fireside Zoom Chat”, shares a seat at our table to highlight the Community leaders and Citizen scientists who have impacted the landscape of ME/CFS research through collaboration.

October’s Fireside Zoom Chat features Citizen scientist, Marian Lemle and her collaboration with ME/CFS Researcher, Bindu Paul MSc, PhD., of Johns Hopkins University; showcasing the resolve of a loved one and her significant contribution to ME/CFS research and interest in Hydrogen Sulfide.

Looks like a fresh look is being taken at an old hypothesis, the hydrogen sulfide hypothesis. It was developed in 2007 by the mother of a pwME and - this bit I googled - it took off for a bit when Dr De MeirLeir took it up but then interest in it seems to have fizzled out.

Now Dr Bindu Paul is taking another look using samples from the Solve ME registry (early results point to dysregulated H2S metabolism in ME). She's also getting some immortalised ME cell lines, from both mild and severe ME, from La Trobe (Paul Fisher) and is going to look at mitochondrial function, presumably in relation to H2S but not explicitly stated.

Most of the video is about the background of the interviewees and an outline of the H2S hypothesis. There's only about a minute about the current project (starting about 31:00). And some questions and answers at the end.

More on Marian Lemle's hypothesis (haven't read) here:
