The Guardian - Rod Liddle vilifies disabled people. I’m tired of the hate. We all should be (2019) Frances Ryan

I do think their media strategy while successful is misplaced: because of the underlying flaws with their ‘message’ ie poor underlying research.

Each time they intervene like this, they generate more attention by their behaviour & people dig into the background & hey presto.

Tbh thought it has been a good result primarily of their conduct, to get Frances Ryan involved to the point if writing this piece, even when unwell & short of energy herself. She has been ‘onside’ before & I think this is for us an important step. Other colleagues, less clubbable than science/health journos will probably now be much more likely to take a look.

Ed changed ‘if’ to ‘of’ in para 1;
‘is’ to ‘while’ in line 1
A couple of minor typos

I think that was written with other readers in mind, not Frances Ryan. He's basically telling readers that if only FR would speak to scientists ...

It's basically a parting shot to the world in general as he huffs out of the rooms and slams the door with as much dignity as he can muster.

I don't think Sharpe is saying this to Francis Ryan. In fact, I think he is just showing his twitter followers that she may be uninformed on the subject.
Yes, he is saying it to her, but is especially playing to the crowd I think; same as always. Like a market trader talking to one person amongst the onlookers, but words and ways carefully chosen to send a message to the others.
