Craig Morris says sufferers are crying out for support

A petition for the Island to have a dedication service for M.E. (myalgic encephalmyselitis) has gained more than a thousand signatures. It was started a week ago by Craig Morris who suffers from the illness, also known as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. He wants Tynwald to establish a select committee to investigate and report on the adequacy of diagnosis, treatment and provision for those with M.E. An estimated 300 people on the Isle of Man have the long-term multi-system disease.

Mr Morris says the petition is borne out of frustration.

Health Minister confirms plans are in progress

A dedicated service for those suffering with M.E. on the Isle of Man will be in place by the end of the current financial year. That's the promise from Health Minister David Ashford after more than 1,200 people signed a petition calling for more to be done to help those with the condition, also known as chronic fatigue syndrome.

Around 350 Manx residents are known to have the illness, and Pound170,000 has been set aside in this year's budget to develop a pathway for those needing treatment.

I wasn't very impressed by the minister's reference to treatment including Clinical Psychology!

I have had a reply from Celia at the IOM ME Support group and anyone can sign.

I live on the island and i hope we don't end up with GET and CBT but I fear the worst as we have the same NHS as the UK. I saw an OT over here who had 14 years experience with people with M.E and she wanted me to gradually increase my activity and exercise and reduce my rests
