Old Maudsley GP training video

I'm not sure whether I ever saw a date. Here's a message from 2007 I found by searching the Co-Cure archive https://listserv.nodak.edu/archives/co-cure.html .

I thought people might be interested in seeing some training videos from the CBT school of thought for treating "Chronic Fatigue" and "Chronic Fatigue Syndrome" patients (they switch from using one term to the other throughout). As can be seen below, they also mention "ME". Given they don't make any distinction between the different ones, the advice would likely be seen to apply to all three groups.

I'm forwarding on the information compiled by another PWME who went to quite a lot of trouble to compile it. "I" refers to him for all the bits below my name. Any link that starts mms:// can be watched online. Alternatively, one can simply work from the page: http://webcasts.prous.com/Chronic_Fatigue/program.asp

People don't need to read the slected quotes if they watching the clips.

Note: I'm sending these out so people interested can see them and see where the CBT school of thought are really coming from (and want to go to); I wouldn't be recommending people show them to medical professionals.

Thanks a lot for all the info. I will have a look round the CoCure archive aswell I've not seen that before.

Sorry no, but fascinating to date them and see the videos from each timeframe, and me remembering back to then (when I wouldn't have known any of this was going on) to compare with my non-ME specific 'notes' of the time.

Interesting getting to the fibbles at 7min in onwards about 'if you had a virus your body would have cleared it' - which I guess the whole thing has been cued up to begin as the punchline for (before this it has all been 'extracting stuff from patient' now this is 'doctor stepping in to start debunking feel' so gave it prominence as a message by making it first up as the 'first thing to deliver in reply').

I literally just read the latest David Black article:

and the following had struck me for other reasons as interesting/new for me (I think in the batch of historic articles on here there is a note about something in the classified docs where that has been extended recently for another number of decades, said it was 'due to information being from another nation/state/country' info wise so was intrigued to read other countries 'position/ideas' around that time just in case maybe it might give context to what was happenning in each country around then):

Psychiatry’s supremo might also seek to help out other actors, such as NICE, which from 2007 inexplicably (or possibly for reasons yet to be extracted by means of an FoI request) recommended against the use of anti-virals for a severe illness which is often characterised as post-viral. In the USA, where researchers were free to pursue such things, progress was being made in this very area.

But it does feel like it might be earlier.

The website says its a collaboration between Maudsley Publications and RCGP.

I had a quick look and it apparently Maudsley Publications was set up in June 1998 so maybe between 98 and 02.

Of course when you combine with things like the Gerada video where they say something alone the lines of (with a straight face): 'we looked at all the evidence and exercising will do you NO harm' and facts like this

then here is the other perspective/fact/point to note:

they were also effectively gaslighting the DOCTORS through this too (or indeed FIRST), by not including a 'wink to camera' where something wasn't strictly accurate vs the message they were being told to say. Interesting period in time

Probably another connection in the chain of events here to the false narrative (where they pretend this is 'the englightened' by using 'Yuppie flu' as the straw man in articles) is to point out that videos like this are clearly building on the Yuppie Flu attitude of some in delivery of 'attitude training' to 'all' with more extensive insinuations.

ie they were actively furthering the stigma and embedding that, certainly not combating it in these videos
