Information film about ME and PEM - Norwegian ME Association (in English)

Today is the première of the English version of a three minute long film about ME and PEM.

It's made by the Norwegian ME Association - Rogaland County with professional help from psychologist Ketil Jakobsen and paediatric neurologist Kristian Sommerfelt.

The film is available for everyone to use and share. It's also been uploaded to Facebook.

Hopefully this will provide a useful insight to Post Exertional Malaise and that it will reach many health care personnel, decision makers in politics and health, friends and family and many more!

Agree. It takes 2-3 weeks to recover after my sister visits once a year. Several years ago she gave me a beautiful perfume oil custom made in Dubai that was wrapped in beautiful paper. She kept telling me to open it, but I had to explain that I was too mentally exhausted, and that I needed rest so that I could enjoy unwrapping it.

I remember once getting so excited and happy about an allocation to biomedical ME research, it me sent right into PEM :laugh:

It IS hard to understand.

Hopefully this film can be of a little help.

I've seen some at the psychosomatic side of the ME debate in my country talking about PEM as the kind of muscle soreness everyone can get from exercise.. o_O
 
This is very good. Straight. To the point. I really like this style.

Even though there are no citations, this little film is a more accurate and relevant piece of information than literally the entire ME-BPS body of knowledge. Every book. Every paper. Every trial. Every conference. Every panel. All the services. All of them combined. Every last bit. It adds up to a less relevant information than this simple 2 minute video.

Imagine that. Thousands of people. Decades of work. Tens of millions in direct funding. Tens of millions of lives ruined. >$1T in direct economic losses. An effort that stretches back more than a century for its origins and core ideas. All of this. And it adds up to less than what a simple 2 minute film does. That just boggles the mind.

I miss a bit more info on the differences between PEM and the kind of fatigue/sensory overload other chronically diseases get after pushing themselves...

I have already witnessed someone with a psychological diagnosis using the word PEM for being knocked out after being social. This person learned the term from their therapist.
