Would this RBC abnormality correlate with low ferritin in some pwME? I understand some with ME have good ferritin levels, so this won't be be universal.

I just read your question. I had low ferritin since the onset of ME (20+ years), but after menopause it has gone up at 98.

I think for me it was a malabsorption issue because I had many other deficiencies (mg, b12, copper etc)
