It's getting worse. And...why am I so obsessed with this virus spreading?

Anyway, 830 cases with 25 dead.

I'm willing to bet far greater numbers than that were infected... It seems so virulent simply because they aren't reporting the full numbers.

Never fear. KCL is putting together a team to advise on and treat the most important part of this. The "functional overlay" presenting as anxiety and depression and leading to perpetuation of symptoms. A course of CBT for all. Perhaps.

I now have severe anxiety after being sprayed with something noxious on the plane before we got off :nailbiting: If I get sprayed on my next two flights I won’t be happy. Think I’m gonna buy a mask to protect me from these sprays :banghead: tons of people are wearing them

Yes that's a possibility, that more people have caught it than is being detected and reported, therefore the mortality rate may be lower than the figures suggest. SciAm says about the Wuhan coronavirus:
Current figures are 830 confirmed cases, and 26 dead. Ref: here. So ostensibly that's a mortality rate of 3.1% — assuming there are no asymptomatic infections, or mild infections which are mistaken for a cold, and so not reported.

Interesting that some sources suggest the Wuhan coronavirus incubation period is 10 to 14 days. That's a bit longer than the incubation period of influenza virus, which is 1 to 4 days. Possibly that may make it harder to track new cases, as you may contract the virus from someone, but will not show symptoms until up to two weeks later.

It's the first time I'm actually worried by something like this, mostly because of the lockdown.

I cant remeber this being done with any other outbreak

Well the SARS outbreak here in 2003 was quite concerning too. I had a phlebotomy technician arrive at my place wearing a whole face covering mask and wore very thick gloves. She stood 4 feet away from my door asking if I had been exposed to anyone recently with potential SARS before coming in my apartment.
