I wonder if hypocrisy is genetic. We could put in a grant fora GWAS study. It would be fun to show that hypocrisy was all in the genes. Think of all those hypocritical political families. Perhaps that is why we have dynasties. They seem to be back in fashion.

Is it hypocrisy or a compulsion to position oneself in debates with outrageous, unexpected, unintuitive, offensive ideas?

Like claiming that patients with CFS are sick because they act and think like a sick person.

Well the genes might be in linkage disequilibrium. We could have no end of fun mapping out the DNA of offensive thinking patterns.

    What is linkage disequilibrium?

If I understand it right, it's saying that linkage disequilibrium is when variants of different genes tend to occur together more or less often than by chance.

We need to get the name right. It appears to be Claire Regina Fox. Presumably in anticipation of the success of the revolution.

It is interesting to see that Wiki gives, as one of the funders of the Institute of Ideas, Novartis. Strange how the name keeps appearing. One day we will put it all together.

That's the Spiked group? Ex-communist radicals funded by the psychopathic (well, well deserved) arch-libertarians Koch brothers who were railing yesterday about the "cult" of Greta Thunberg (what courage it takes to bully a 16 year-old)?

This way beyond horseshoe theory and into multi-dimensional fractals. Impressively confused. I hope to have a clear picture of this some day because it looks as entertaining as it is bizarre.

Steve Hawkins comment (in this Virology blog by Steven Lubet), http://www.virology.ws/2017/07/03/t...harpes-special-ethics-seminar/comment-page-1/ also discusses the Foxes:

    Moderator note:
We would remind all members of Forum Rule 12:

As a person of interest to people with ME, Fox (and the broader Spiked crowd and the web of support they have) is of legitimate interest, including the fact that Fox is standing for the Brexit party. However, all discussion or comments on Brexit, the Brexit party and other members of the Brexit party should be avoided.

Over the years a few journalists have looked into the SMC, the history of the Foxes and the targeting of environmentalists by the SMC.

These include Nick Cohen & George Monbiot of the Guardian/Observer. I have reached out to both about Claire Fox and her MEP candidacy in the hope I can bring up ME and the SMC.

Not expecting too much, but I'll let you know if they bite :)

The first thing anyone absolutely has to establish is what may or not be true. Something popping up on social media could be a bit suspect!

Ah. so this is why that tweet surfaced again. I had responded to it, and Sharpe never blocked me. Now this comes up, and I got a new like, and all of a sudden I see he blocked me. Oh well.

My memory is that this stuff is well documented. And there is a lot more in relation to this group and tobacco and GM and all sorts.

Surely they haven't got to Bertie Bassett as well now? Is nothing sacred?

    Another profile of her today.

Not very interesting, but this caught my eye:

I didn't know or had forgotten she had worked in mental health. It may (or, I suppose, may not) be relevant to her position on ME.
