Open Medicine Foundation (OMF) fundraising

I wondered if you wanted to change the title to something like, 'Help OMF receive up to $1 million from generous bitcoin donor' to make it clear that you're not asking patients to donate. A lot of patients can't afford to donate so might not read the thread unless it's clear that this is about an actual donor.
 
We have it!! He tried to donate to the OMF but missed the fact that you need to get in touch with them to donate over $10,000, so was unable to. I highlighted that fact and mentioned it was probably because the payment provider, Bitpay, has a limit on payments of $10k. He said he would submit the donation in 2 amounts instead. I have had a play with the OMF's donation page and I am certain that should work.

I'm having difficulty getting my head around the fact that OMF is going to get a non-trivial amount of research money. That's just not the sort of thing that usually happens to us. Pretty cool when someone tries to give you more money than you are set up to receive! :emoji_wine_glass: :angel: :emoji_rosette: :emoji_butterfly: :heart: :balloons:

Bitcoin addresses are pseudonymous, so you cannot tell by looking at the blockchain whether or not those addresses belong to the OMF. Likely they actually belong to Bitpay anyway, who relays the corresponding amount to the amount to the OMF in USD.

How much did OMF get? Sorry just reading this now and don't understand it properly!

I emailed the OMF to let them know about it and they said they had already applied. We're also ranked fairly close to the top on the relevant thread, but if you haven't already it may be worth giving that an upvote and leaving your story:
