It’s an illness which affects more than 20,000 people in Scotland.

And yet there is not a single specialist in the country to deal with patients who suffer from ME – myalgic encephalomyelitis.

This condition is a debilitating neuro-immune disease which leaves those afflicted unable to work or even carry out basic everyday tasks. It causes profound tiredness and can lead to cognitve impairment.

It strikes indiscriminately, often devastating people who have led previously healthy and active lives.

Yet there are still those who refuse to believe the evidence which has been assembled by the charity MEAction and other UK-wide groups.

What a very weird way of referring to people with ME! As if the only people who suffered with it were the young. The "ME generation" makes it sound as if they are choosing to have ME.

And the phrase ''me generation'' more commonly refers to the self centredness of youth. A very unfortunate connotation. Headline writer gets it wrong again.

I wonder if anyone from the leading edge of 'generation ME' is still about from 1934? Even early teens would be nearly 100 and this is not a disease that lends itself to longevity. Heck of a generation.

They are asking for more care or enhanced care..... The establishment will see that as asking for more CBT/GET. Cause thats pretty much all that's on offer and this gives them the excuse to say it's on offer by popular demand.

Now, if they were asking for proper biomedical research, that I would support.
