Jon Stewart on proper health care to 9/11-responders

Just noticed a conversation on twitter and thought it might be interesting for the forum as well

Jon Stewart has just held a passionate speech on the lack of proper health care for 9/11-first responders before a House Committee in Washington.

Jon Stewart is a treasure. He cares and feels the pain of those he advocates for, it is genuine and heartfelt. I love this man so much for everything he represents.

I doubt he was singularly responsible for the denial of 9/11-caused illness, but this brings the tally of Simon Wessely's career to denying the reality of:

• Myalgic encephalomyelitis
• 9/11-related illnesses
• Gulf War illnesses
• Toxic spill in Camelford's water supply leading to a host of health problems
• Anything else?

It's almost impressive. To have been this wrong for so long, leading to massive suffering, and yet still be a respected member of society.

There is a guy who has the sad distinction of having developed two of the worst toxins known to modern science, but at least he did it by accident. I think he invented dioxin and IIRC agent orange. All by accident, he was just a good chemist and was not focused on any ill use.

Wessely, on the hand, chose this. He is a medical hitman. His fall from grace, possibly posthumous, will be quite spectacular. What a legacy of death and suffering he is leaving.
