(Added because I think the "or" and "'cause'" make it clearer that pointing to NICE's independence was a direct result of him rectifying himself.)

A "first principle" that goes about as long as in a typical Star Trek episode.

"Oh noes, we can't possibly intervene in this society", proceeds to intervene a whole lot because, you know, circumstances. Hmm.

I think with John Prescott they always went through an editing process to make the meaning clear.
 
And thalidomide is prescribed with all sorts of safeguards and caveats.

If someone is recovering from ME, a safe exercise program could be very useful to strengthen muscles. Workwell are trying to find safe ways in which severe ME patients can avoid contractures and muscle wasting.

The thing is that it must be done with a full knowledge of ME problems.
