    Merged thread

The @BristolCMM account on Twitter is currently quite interesting, if anyone may care to have a look....

Interesting article. Also - social media drama involving academics is always so fun!

I wonder if there will be an aftermath, if it might shift things.
It went on for quite a few hours, so I guess many have seen it.

Strangely, the BristolCMM Twitter account is now back up, at least at the time of this post, and yesterday's critical tweets are still there. o_O

Very surprising that it would re-appear, and intact - wonder how that happened, and how long it will stay up?

    There is still this article
    https://forbetterscience.com/2018/09/10/abderrahmane-kaidi-leaves-bristol-after-misconduct-findings/

But lets not forget Bristol University tried to shut @dave30th up rather than investigate Crawley and Jonathan Sterne for doing research without ethics approval. So they have a history of trying to cover up issues. Perhaps the surprise here is they actually investigated research misconduct (but seemed to keep a very narrow scope). I wonder if it was because collaborators at other institutions (rather than patients) complained.

For anyone who thinks there is an actual definition of fake news this is a warning of what can happen if the government or establishment get to claim they can define it and dissapear stuff.

Hopefully this will Streisand effect the issue. It generally does.
