Fitting that Medisch Contact is giving this attention.
It is notable, though, that the word “activist” is used.
I think that says more about the learned defensiveness of many medical professionals, and the accompanying press,
than about the courage it takes to show yourself this vulnerable.
To shed light on the other side of the “activist” coin, a closer look
at how established scientists and clinicians refuse to be teachable—let alone vulnerable—regarding their mistakes and the damage caused,
would also be welcome.
Medisch Contact is warmly invited to delve further into that conservatism, including that of some of its columnists.
They have been pointed to this. But they preferred to let it go under the guise of a free press—and “the other side of the story”—rather than correcting disinformation.
I look forward to seeing interest in “the other side” of this activism, in the spirit of journalistic ethics.
But I suspect that false balance will continue to prevail for now.
