Now thats interesting, i had asked about this from OMF and was told they were looking into registering but never heard back again. For Canadian donors to @dave30th 's crowdfunding project , I just learned that the University of California, Berkeley, is recognized as a tax-exempt organization by Revenue Canada. This means our donations are eligible for the charitable donation tax credit -- not that it makes much of a difference to our income tax bill! But, every little bit counts.
Here's a link to the details: https://international.berkeley.edu/giving-abroad
But how does this work, do they send us a tax receipt and is it just if we donate to the University or does this crowdfunding count?
