This is what researchers who are studying aspects of CFS/ME that activists don't want studied are up against.

Has it not occurred to Sharpe that he might be talking to himself only?
The study of these aspects has been very useful - it shows they are a blind alley.

I doubt it has occurred because from his point of view he is right and we are wrong, so if he is right then he is the hero pushing through the hordes of misguided and deluded patients. He probably even believes that someday history will prove him right.

Wow. Michael Sharpe's tweet certainly backfired :)

The Norwegian Refugee Council recently created the hashtag #Trollmelding (Trollmessage). If you see something infuriating on social media on racism, negative characteristics of refugees etc then as a response you can donate to the Refugee Council and use the hashtag.

Perhaps we could to something similar?
Whenever ME-patients are characterised in negative ways and/or victimblamed etc, how about donating to David Tuller and/or biomedical research as response?

What could be a good hashtag for such a campaign?
    #PWMEStandWithScience ? Other suggestions?

ETA: I created a new thread to try and explore this a bit further.

Sharpe apparently fails to understand the difference between advocacy and the conduct of a supposedly scientific trial.

It is not entirely clear where his argument leaves him with regard to the money accepted from the DWP.

Double standards are a common device for reality deniers.
They also will use abstract or ridiculous arguments, so if you asked him i expect he would say something to the effect of he earned his position and his funding comes from a 'reputable' source.

I am laying low on commenting on things related to the tweet in question to avoid appearing to inflame anything.

Good strategy. It seems to be self combustible anyway.

Presumably someone deleted my post referenced above without telling me. Or is it a forum glitch?

Edit: Been explained in next couple of posts, and I'm happy with the explanation.

Edit 2: Just realised I did get a notification in my alerts list. Got confused, I think they used to show up as messages. Anyway, apologies.
