CDC responds to false SMC factsheet claim

Other great moments in backtracking...

This is such a huge change!

This is such a huge change!
and should be seen as evidence...of something...possibly, a deliberately attempting to cause harm, to people, for the purposes of profit, although not necessarily their own, which was modified only when they realised they were no longer totally in charge. IMO these people should be, if not imprisoned, then at least fined into their organisations bankruptcy, and barred from holding positions in healthcare or publishing.

But...no one cares, in the UK, what is done to ill and disabled people, in fact the worse the behaviour it seems the more it is tacitly accepted and encouraged, provided the wrong sort of public/press attention isn't attracted.

Right, I've thought of drawing up a PACE/CBT/GET "dictionary" of terms and phrases that mean things other than what they mean in standard English. As in accusing other of "tweaking" the recovery criteria when these supposed "tweakers" were just untweaking what the PACE team unacceptably tweaked themselves in the first place. Or their definition of "recovery" is actually "remission." Etc.

That would be a great article :)

I see that the Countess of Mar has now reported the SMC to the charities commission. Minutes of the last Forward ME meeting state:
5. Matters arising

5.1 Science Media Centre (item 3, minutes of 28 March meeting). The Chairman announced she had received no response to her letter to their Chief Executive. She requested the help of members in the form of anything we get to know about the SMC. The SMC had made denigrating comments about ME and the ME charities in the past. It was a rule of the Charity Commission that one charity must not malign another. She would bring such comments to the attention of the Charity Commission.

5.2 Dr Charles Shepherd pointed out that there was a slight problem in that the SMC had made very little comment of their own about ME/CFS. What they had done was to show bias in the scientific papers they had chosen to flag up –in other words only papers that emphasised the psychosocial cause of ME and portrayed the ME charities in a poor light. In response to a question by Jane Colby, Charles agreed that they had referred to allegations of harassment of certain doctors.
