Canadian Neuroscientists Say Daily Ibuprofen Can Prevent Alzheimer’s Disease

Then add vaccines on top of that. Then add pollution, GMO, pesticides, etc.

It’s a big snarled up mess, at this point. As long as the FDA database captures all of these points, IMO. it would be more useful.
Vaccines prevent disease, while some of the ingredients can be cleaned up the benefits far, far outweigh the risks.
Pollution is well researched, not to say we fully understand it. That said there are excellent options available but the public has to want to deal with pollution or it will not work, those who want to deregulate so more Flint lead crises and river catching on fire and cars and power plants and mining can pollute while lying about it means voters who beg for these things at the ballot are the problem (about half of voters).
Pesticides are defended by companies with deep pockets that prevent research being done and spend money to fight facts that may harm their profits.
These are not failures of of scientific knowledge, they are failures of the public to look for the truth over alternative facts.

The article claims "We now have a simple test that can indicate if a person is fated to develop Alzheimer’s disease long before it begins to develop."

Will that pan out, or is it just another unsupported claim, we shall know in time.
I read that but I wonder how long it will be before any such testing will be readily available through our doctors?

Indeed, i would like to see this pursued because its easier to prevent damage then fix it afterwards and this could save a lot of lives if definitively proven

Great question. From the abstract:
Abstract said:
It also opens a window of opportunity for preventive treatment that can be met with a simple diagnostic test. Salivary levels of Aβ42 may fulfill that need. They can be measured by a simple ELISA test we have developed using commercially available reagents.

By this ELISA test, normal controls, who are not at risk for AD, have levels of Aβ42 close to 20 pg/ml. AD cases, as well as high level controls, secrete levels in the range of 40–85 pg/ml.

Widespread application of this test to detect high level controls, followed by NSAID consumption, could substantially reduce the prevalence of AD.

If a large database to capture these data points, I feel we could start to make sense out of things.

I glanced at your link
Analysis of saliva for Aβ42 may provide the missing link. However, the data we present is preliminary and will need to be confirmed by further studies
We are currently investigating whether NSAID consumption can affect these levels.
So this is a good start but only a start. If your going to take Ibuprofen to prevent Alzheimers then your doing an experiment on yourself, one with unknown long term risks that has not been studied or proven.

These things don't need a large database, but for drugs it is what i was getting at.
It’s a combo of genetics, environmental exposure, along with a drug in question, along with history of all drugs taken. I feel there is a footprint left behind from choices we consent to, and/or have no control over.

I do not understand what your saying here

Alvin, a lot of people already take Ibuprofen long term for conditions such as arthritis pain. I would think that if there were going to be long term risks, we would know about them by now.

Common side effects of ibuprofen include nausea, dyspepsia, gastrointestinal ulceration/bleeding, raised liver enzymes, diarrhea, constipation, epistaxis(nose bleed), headache, dizziness, priapism, rash, salt and fluid retention, andhypertension (high blood pressure).

There are plenty of long term side effects of ibuprofen - as with every drug people have to decide for themselves whether the benefits outweigh the potential risks.

We already know that long term use increases the risk of a heart attack, stroke, and ulcers, which may cause death. Consumers erroneously assume just because a drug can be purchased over the counter, that it is safe. Like any drug, it’s important to follow up with your doctor, so you can be monitored for any possible side effects. Also you need to tell your doctor what other drugs you are taking (listed below), to discuss potential side effects from drug interactions.

People who take nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) (other than aspirin) such as ibuprofen may have a higher risk of having a heart attack or a stroke than people who do not take these medications. These events may happen without warning and may cause death. This risk may be higher for people who take NSAIDs for a long time. Do not take an NSAID such as ibuprofen if you have recently had a heart attack, unless directed to do so by your doctor. Tell your doctor if you or anyone in your family has or has ever had heart disease, a heart attack, or a stroke; if you smoke; and if you have or have ever had high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or diabetes. Get emergency medical help right away if you experience any of the following symptoms: chest pain, shortness of breath, weakness in one part or side of the body, or slurred speech.

If you will be undergoing a coronary artery bypass graft (CABG; a type of heart surgery), you should not take ibuprofen right before or right after the surgery.

NSAIDs such as ibuprofen may cause ulcers, bleeding, or holes in the stomach or intestine. These problems may develop at any time during treatment, may happen without warning symptoms, and may cause death. The risk may be higher for people who take NSAIDs for a long time, are older in age, have poor health, or who drink three or more alcoholic drinks per day while taking ibuprofen. Tell your doctor if you take any of the following medications: anticoagulants ('blood thinners') such as warfarin (Coumadin, Jantoven); aspirin; other NSAIDs such as ketoprofen and naproxen (Aleve, Naprosyn); oral steroids such as dexamethasone, methylprednisolone (Medrol), and prednisone (Rayos); selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as citalopram (Celexa), fluoxetine (Prozac, Sarafem, Selfemra, in Symbyax), fluvoxamine (Luvox), paroxetine (Brisdelle, Paxil, Pexeva), and sertraline (Zoloft); or serotonin norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs) such as desvenlafaxine (Khedezla, Pristiq), duloxetine (Cymbalta), and venlafaxine (Effexor XR). Also tell your doctor if you have or have ever had ulcers, bleeding in your stomach or intestines, or other bleeding disorders. If you experience any of the following symptoms, stop taking ibuprofen and call your doctor: stomach pain, heartburn, vomit that is bloody or looks like coffee grounds, blood in the stool, or black and tarry stools.

Keep all appointments with your doctor and the laboratory. Your doctor will monitor your symptoms carefully and will probably order certain tests to check your body's response to ibuprofen. Be sure to tell your doctor how you are feeling so that your doctor can prescribe the right amount of medication to treat your condition with the lowest risk of serious side effects.

Way too much COI for my taste! 100% of the study authors are tied to Aurin Biotech! (Same company that touts the development of the simple saliva test, they claim, can diagnose Alzheimer’s disease, as well as predict its future onset).
