An integrative approach to ME, Hippocratic Post, Not a recommendation

Exerpt:
ME is not a specific disease or condition and is generally a ‘diagnosis of exclusion’ – one given when no definitive disease can be found. It is more commonly called chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) nowadays.

There are no conventional tests commonly used in the NHS to ‘prove’ that someone has ME/CFS. Conventional treatment is based on advice to take antidepressants, get plenty of rest and do graded exercise – as much as you can handle but no more.

I don't know what he thinks he's treating, but it's not ME as we know it. It sounds like he sees a high proportion of people with other fatiguing conditions including burnout, athletic overtraining and depression. Not a mention of PEM, orthostatic intolerance, cognitive impairment, pain, etc. All he talks about is fatigue.

He's a doctor working in private practice, so his patient experience will be heavily slanted to the wealthy which may, and I'm speculating wildly here, be skewed to include high flying city workers and athletes who hit burnout and/or don't want to admit to depression, and the underemployed bored wealthy. How's that for unfounded stereotyping ;)

More constructively, I hope some of us will work out how to submit replies including links to better information.
