Novel characterization of endogenous transient receptor potential melastatin 3 ion channels from Gulf War Illness participants 2024 Marshall-Gradisnik

Abstract Gulf War Illness (GWI) is a chronic condition characterized by multisystem symptoms that still affect up to one-third of veterans who engaged in combat in the Gulf War three decades ago. The aetiology of GWI is mainly explained by exposure to multiple toxic agents, vaccines, and...

Investigation into the restoration of TRPM3 ion channel activity in post COVID-19 ...,Sasso, Marshall-Gradisnik et al,2024

Full title: Investigation into the restoration of TRPM3 ion channel activity in post COVID-19 condition: a potential pharmacotherapeutic target Recently, we reported that post COVID-19 condition patients also have Transient Receptor Potential Melastatin 3 (TRPM3) ion channel dysfunction, a...

Altered TRPM7-Dependent Calcium Influx in Natural Killer Cells of Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome Patients, 2023, du Preez et al

Abstract: Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) is a disabling multisystemic condition. The pathomechanism of ME/CFS remains unestablished; however, impaired natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxicity is a consistent feature of this condition. Calcium (Ca2+) is crucial for NK...

Review Biomarkers for myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS): a systematic review, 2023, Maksoud et al

Abstract Background Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) is a multifaceted condition that affects most body systems. There is currently no known diagnostic biomarker; instead, diagnosis is dependent on application of symptom-based case criteria following exclusion of any...

Impaired TRPM3-dependent calcium influx and restoration using Naltrexone in natural killer cells of [ME/CFS], 2022, Eaton-Fitch et al

Abstract Background Myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) is a serious disorder of unknown aetiology. While the pathomechanism of ME/CFS remains elusive, reduced natural killer (NK) cell cytotoxic function is a consistent immunological feature. NK cell effector functions...

Australia - Parliamentarians learn about ground-breaking science on debilitating neurological disease

"Don Staines explained that, given these findings, we could see that “recommendations to exercise patients are wrong” because it only places greater demand for calcium ions in the cells. This also explains why patients who meet the diagnostic criteria defined in the Canadian Consensus Criteria...

    Don Staines and Griffith

I think I read before that members were wary of Don Staine's research at Griffith University. I couldn't find it here...I got the invest in ME Conference DVD, haven't watched his presentation yet. Don't want false hope...is there a reason their research isn't considered strong?

The Courier Mail: Australian scientists prove CFS is real and have discovered a test for it

Australian scientists prove Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is real and have discovered a test for it - The Gold Coast team has proven that patients with ME have lower levels of calcium coming into their cells, that their cells store less calcium and this is the basis of their illness. - Work is...
