    Sounds good - we're taking away the painkillers you need, but we will look in to see how the pain destroys you and your life, relationships and job, at regular intervals, for a chuckle.

    Very good, and this bit is very easy to overlook but is really important:

    For many people, there is often the need for time to assimilate information being provided by health professionals - the time needed may well exceed the duration of a consultation. For those with cognitive issues, especially where the illness is a cause, it can be especially difficult. As always it is about balance. Not railroading people before they have had time to make a properly informed decision, but at the same time helping people to arrive at a good timely decision where they might otherwise put it off for ever.
