Publication of the NICE ME/CFS guideline after the pause (comment starting from the announcement of 20 October 2021)

I would wait a few days. NICE isn't the fastest and with big decisions, they'll need time to get things right.

If it comes before next week, that'll be a lovely treat, but they'll probably have to contact stakeholders first with additional (probably embargoed) information and then release the guideline after that.

That means at least a few days will have to occur between meeting and publication.

You joke but my sleepy brain seems to recall a fad on breathing properly that folks were randomly recommending (good old unsolicited advice) to me about 5 years ago? I remember watching a YouTube video and apparently we all do breathing wrong... Wish i could remember more, i'm sure we could all do with a laugh today.
Breathing for ME is a thing, one of the doctors of renown in the US recommends it, I can't remember which one. I got a breathing app and practiced breathing lying on the floor for a few weeks, but it made no difference and I got bored so I stopped.

I was asked today whether I'd tried yoga.

I had been hoping today there would have been an announcement of the timescale for publication, rather than the actual publication itself.

I agree they will want to contact steak holders and sort press releases etc before publication. So though Friday might have been a possibility a longer delay was always equally possible, especially as we don’t know how they plan to pursue the clarifications coming out of the round table event.

I wouldn't bother. I think they will publish the minutes of the roundtable and a date for publication of the guideline this week, and publish the guideline next week. I have no evidence to support that. I just don't think it's in NICE's interests to spring the guideline on everyone without warning of the publication date.

It is said that breathing a certain way can stimulate the vagus nerve, in a similar way to micro current devices

I agree. I very much doubt we will see the finalised guideline and associated documents and resource materials this side of the weekend.
