Private Eye magazine is seeking nominations for investigative journalism.

Think David Tuller is well worth nominating for this. Sadly just spotted & deadline is 2nd April & have little time to prepare.

Award is worth £5,000 and would bring judges eyes to bear on the issues.

Wonder if @dave30th could do this:

Ed: added line beginning “Award is worth”
Ed Changed Wonder if any would/could want to do this? to Wonder if @dave30th could do this

Is a simple form to print off & can nominate particular blogs: looks quite straightforward if you can get to a post office and post so it is received in time.

[Could be good for people to submit individually.]

NB This must be done by the journalist themselves.

EDITED: to add NB and [ ]

Looks like this is only for those living near the Private Eye offices!

Given that Phil Hammond is their medical guy and works with Crawley, this would be a long-shot anyway.

Post next day delivery could work, even on Monday.
Know what you mean & have put that point to Private Eye on Twitter. But still well worth submitting imo: ever harder to ignore.

I'm an idiot and misread the closing date as 1st April.

Ah, i just saw post (i blame sleepiness)
If someone wants to take it on i still think its worthy

The closest member could send perhaps?

OK So - DM’d someone on the Judging Panel. Two BIG points:

1) Is independent of Private Eye
2) The journalists need to enter themselves for this. We CAN’T nominate: will edit messages above in thread.

CAN ANYONE REACH DAVID TULLER ASAP
@dave30th and ask/encourage him to enter & probably print & post his application.

I'll check this out. Journalism contests are usually judged by outside panels. but most of those who judge these things are unlikely to see the value in what I've been doing unfortunately.
I wonder if you can provide supporting information, such as the interest from Carol Monoghan, and how your efforts have helped bring the issues to her attention.

could be. I'll look. Another issue is I haven't really written many "articles" per se in the last year. The initial 2015 series was long but a self-contained narrative and understandable if someone slogged through it. What I've mostly written more lately are like updates on ongoing situations and probably not that easy to understand for people not kind of involved in the issue. so that's a barrier. maybe this year the story will break out a bit into the larger world and the consciousness of other news organizations. I think the KP development could help that. we'll see.

Whatever the technicalities, I am d**ned sure you genuinely deserve it; nothing ventured nothing gained maybe. But seriously, no pressure.

Thanks @dave30th think is well worth doing: if you can get someone to post your submission in from U.K. in time. I would have nominated your Lancet 3.0 as a specific piece: has links across the board.

It is to my mind the most serious U.K. independent investigative journalism award & I was assured fully independent. Also, submission & shortlisting would bring your work to a wider investigative journalism audience: I think you could & should win for your body of work, as represented by one or more articles this year.

Ed corrected typo: “in time”
