Mike's EU Marathons

hi all.

I'm doing a local half marathon in Devizes, Wiltshire on Sunday at 9.30am as part of my training for Vienna (no.16 out of 28) on Sunday 22nd.

If anyone living locally would like to meet for a chat briefly afterwards (or cheer me on), I'm hoping to finish at 11.30am and am bib number 654.

If you can't make but would like to sponsor me, as ever I'm at www.justgiving.com/mikeseumarathons

hey all.

Devizes half marathon went well! 1hr 49, my second fastest in what is technically my 33rd half marathon for Invest In ME! (15 maras x2 + 3 half races).

Had a bit of press from the Wiltshire Times here; http://www.wiltshiretimes.co.uk/news/16121834.Fundraisers_ready_for_Devizes_Half_Marathon/

I met with Michelle and Roger Bourlet and family after the race who invited me to come over for a shower and cake. We chatted for a while about their daughter Maddie who has severe M.E.

It was hard to see her in so much pain, bedbound, tube fed and lying there with an eye mask on unable to speak. I dedicated this race to her and Eloise Hatfield, another Wiltshire teen with really bad M.E.

The Bourlet family made an incredible gesture this morning by sponsoring me £500. Huge thanks to them on behalf of Invest In ME and myself.

A staggering £600 came in just for this race from 7 donors (so far!) and BBC Radio Wiltshire have emailed me today asking for an interview.

£11.2K of the £26.2K target now www.justgiving.com/mikeseumarathons

Will keep you posted....

Evening all!

So I finished Copenhagen Marathon (number 17 of 28) yesterday!

Was great to be a part of Millions Missing Copenhagen with the Danish ME Association. Alexander is making a film of my trip and race which I'll share soon!

Over 46% of target hit now (£12.1K) and some new friends made. Race report later this week.

Way to go @Mike Harley!

My mom started running marathons when she was 46-years-old and within a couple years started setting age group world's records (technically world's best times) for the next decade or so.

Her best time was a 3:04 at the Boston Marathon in her early 50's. She was disappointed not to break 3 hours, but a woman of her age had never run that fast before her.

She is still alive and well and will turn 90 in August. I'm glad I inherited much of her tenacity. It has helped me survive 34 years with this dreadful illness.

Thank you for using your energies to support our cause!

Bill (who only runs in his dreams)

Wow, that's amazing, fair play to her!

I'm sorry you're unable to run, I try to never take it for granted no matter how tough it gets.
