Donate to build on the work of DecodeME

The DecodeME site FAQs page has a donation link that goes here to an Action for ME website page that says: 'Help change lives. Help us build on the work of DecodeME by supporting future research into ME/CFS. Donations will be managed by Action for ME, and used towards research projects delivered in partnership with the University of Edinburgh, such as the Genetics Centre of Excellence and Sequence ME and Long Covid.'

Seems well worth donating to, to me!

You can also donate straight to Chris Ponting's lab, here.

Does anyone have an opinion where the best place to donate currently is? Like through AfME or directly to Chris Ponting's lab? I understand the final pieces on finalising this study will be done by Chris and a small team on limited funding so maybe that is the best place to donate initally? Or to AfME to be distributed as seen fit? I'm wanting to contribute but unsure which is currently best.

I think when I can afford it I will donate to the lab directly, but also join AfME to support their work generally. I might not agree with everything they do, but the direction of travel is right. I've been impressed by their work with DecodeME, and they'll doubtless continue to play an important part going forward.

For what it is worth, given my experience of the last 5 years, I think that both are very much worth supporting. DecodeME is most definitely a product of cooperation between them both, and is a template for a way of working that will be used in the future. Donating to either of them helps enable more ME/CFS research in the future.
