I've been trying Daridorexant on occasion for a couple of months. In my experience it is a bit of a knock out drug in that it definitely seems to initiate sleep but I'm not sure about the quality of such. Also I have found it quite difficult not to sleep on until almost midday haven taken it so I don't think it is restoring any kind of "natural" sleep cycle. That said the consequences of (unmedicated) very delayed onset of sleep, or inability to sleep for hours after nighttime awakening are quite devastating for me, often triggering migraine so I am glad to have an effective (for now) tool to help.
Don't see why, theoretically at least, this wouldn't have a risk of tolerance developing, indeed the information leaflet says treatment duration should be as short as possible. Perhaps someone can enlighten me a bit more about the role of orexin?
I don't think I have any experience of sleep paralysis, but it does seem in my case that I go into a dreaming sleep a lot quicker than usual and perhaps that is confusing/ disturbing to my brain, with some odd dreams!
