With each previous round it looked as if the total was not going to be achieved, then there was a last minute surge, let’s hope that the same will happen this time.

Thanks, all!! Just to make this clear: When I start a crowdfunding thing, I already consider myself as having committed to continuing the project for the upcoming six months--in this case from July through December. Even if it fell short, I'd of course fulfill that commitment and I'd find some other Berkeley work to fill the gap, if there were one. But beyond that, I'll be 67 in October, and at some point in the next year or so I'll likely think about retiring from Berkeley.

Left it to almost the last minute - only 3 days left now

    $54592.00 or 83%

Interesting to look at the map to see where donations are coming from. UK, US and Norway, in that order for absolute numbers, are a long way ahead of other countries. Haven't done the calculations but it looks like per population Norway is well in the lead.

Nice to see the donation from Iceland.

I hadn't realised that Norway has those islands so far north until I saw them highlighted with mainland Norway on the donation map. Svalbard - I'd heard of it. There's the Svalbard Global Seed Vault there.

That's exciting @dave30th. Is there something you are particularly looking forward to doing when you have more time?

I very much appreciate your ongoing committment to this work and to the ME community, and now people with Long Covid and other MUS as well.

It's tragic that after all your and others' work in showing up the dire state of BPS research and the story behind their clinging to power, nothing much has changed in terms of improvements to research publications or retractions. It's vital that it's all on record, and your work has made a major contribution to that, for which you have my heartfelt thanks.

I wonder whether you would consider spending the final year or so on this project writing a book on it all, perhaps in collaboration with a few other key people.
Edit to add: I think the combination of your journalistic skills, engaging and no-holds-barred writing style, and deep knowledge would make a potential big seller far beyond the ME/CFS community. Targeting it at the whole medical establishment as a 'must-read' take down of some of their colleagues' hiding their nefarious goings on would be brilliant.

Oh, yes, that would be great. I could definitely see David on the international literary event circuit too - I reckon there'd be a lot of interest.

Someone from Norway posted it and chided her compatriots that there were only 27 donations from Norway at that time. That drove up the numbers a bit in the next couple days! Since I have started this, it has always UK first, US second (but usually only half as many donations as UK), and then Norway has recently been up there since I became involved in the debate over the Lightning study there a couple of years ago. For other countries, think it depends somewhat on whether there has been news from there recently. For example, there were news developments this week in the Netherlands, and I wrote two posts about them. Then I got a few more donations from there.

And I am very curious about the donation from Jordan! And yes, it might be the first one from Iceland as well.
