David Tuller's Trial by Error Project Update:

A reminder about my talk at Cambridge today...

I'm talking today at the Center for the Study of Existential Risk (I didn't realize I've been studying "existential risk" about "Epidemiological Sleight-of-Hand: The Case of Medically Unexplained Symptoms," at 2 pm UK time. Of course, I'll talk about PACE--how could I not mention that piece of crap?--but I will cover a lot else as well.

I love doing this work. That's why I keep crowdfunding in order to be able to continue the project. If you'd like me to continue my efforts to debunk poor science, please consider a donation, which are tax-deductible in the US and in Canada.

Join us on the 18th of October when Dr David Tuller, Senior Fellow in Public Health and Journalism at UC Berkeley’s Center for Global Public Health, will speak with us about the trope of ‘medically unexplained symptoms’ (MUS) and the bolstering of research findings to support the tenuous inferences that surround them. The talk will touch on a range of case studies, including ME/CFS, Long COVID, and POTS.

Only now I realize I'm too late for a reminder.

... But not too late for this:

davidtuller on Twitter: "I really appreciate this each time! I'm really sorry the crowdfunding does not take PayPal but requires a card--I can't do anything about this. That's not much of an issue in US but I know it is in Europe. Most Berkeley campaigns aren't getting funds from Europe--just mine."

ME/cvs Vereniging on Twitter: "Dit kan weer via onze bankrekening. Wij dragen het dan weer af.

Dat kan tot en met 29 oktober. Waarom doneren? https://t.co/fgOP0GlONL #ME #MEcvs #PwME https://t.co/pBHgtrJRN7 "

is that lagging behind where we normally are by day 13?

I'm not really sure. Each time I think it's behind, and then it works out. There will be a burst the last week, I expect. I will continue for six months (Jan-June next year) regardless of the outcome, since those who are funding me are funding me for that period and I will certainly honor that commitment. I definitely sense that it might be harder for folks this time, especially in UK, given economic hardships and uncertainty.

Yes, the economic pressures are continuing to bite across the board just about everywhere.

For example, rent here in Australia is seriously out of control now, and has become one of our most urgent economic issues.

My panel discussion today on patient activism/advocacy

I've been at Cambridge this week, and today I'm on a panel discussion that will cover patient activism and advocacy, with a focus on ME/CFS, long Covid, and HIV/AIDS. Here's the info to register for online viewing!

If you'd like to support my efforts to debunk poor science, please consider a donation for this round. Donations are tax-deductible in the US and in Canada.

Only now I realize that you are in Cambridge, not only your picture on a screen @dave30th .

Have a good discussion and a good stay on this side of the Atlantic!

I only use paypal so I've been frustrated about making these donations until just now when I had the bright idea of using a Visa gift card. I did it completely anonymously with false personal details etc. and it was accepted. I used a 10 minute email address and received confirmation of payment almost immediately.
I don't suppose I'm the first to think of this:rolleyes:

I only use paypal so I've been frustrated

Thanks for figuring out a fix! I get very frustrated too. Sometimes I hear from people who want to send me funds directly through PayPal and I explain I simply can't take money personally. It opens me up to all sorts of criticisms and charges. However, I'm not completely opposed to someone donating through PayPal to a contact or organization I know, which then donates it immediately to Berkeley through the crowdfunding site. Given my opponents, I need to be really careful that funds are only being accepted by third parties, not me. I mean, I don't encourage this, but it has been done.
