Article: When the Chronically Ill Go into Remission: Filmmaker Jennifer Brea’s Life After “Unrest”

Excellent article in the Los Angeles Review of Books about the trauma of illness and the double edge of remission. Written by Megan Moodie, who shares her own experiences with chronic pain and illness.

Thanks for this. Says a lot of things that aren’t said enough.

About relapsing-remitting conditions, about complex feelings in a remission (complete or partial both), and about how the dominant narrative of fighting and beating illness (something like breast cancer) forgets how ubiquitous is the relapsing part. How ever-present, in good times and in bad. And how that euphoria waits in the wings (telling the lie that I ever accepted how this is).

Made me feel just a little bit proud of our endurance. thank you.
