BACKGROUND
The lingering effects of SARS-CoV-2 infection, collectively known as post-COVID syndrome...
Abstract
Cerebral blood flow (CBF) is vital for delivering oxygen and nutrients to the brain. Many forms of orthostatic intolerance (OI) involve impaired regulation of CBF in the upright posture, which results in disabling symptoms that decrease quality of life.
Because CBF is not easy to...
Abstract
Cognitive dysfunction is frequently reported in individuals with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome (POTS), possibly resulting from reduced cerebral blood flow (CBF).
We used brain SPECT, an accessible imaging modality that has not been systematically evaluated in this patient...
Disclosure: Question relates to my daughter, who has been tentatively diagnosed with OCHOS, orthostatic cerebral hypoperfusion syndrome.
I hope folks won't mind me asking a question for personal reasons.
Assuming a reduction in blood flow to the brain of about 25% (average quoted in Peter...
I've been trying to organise this test for my daughter for some time, so we've read as much on it as we can. Gets a bit technical sometimes.
In the literature, I've noticed that some groups measure at the carotid (and sometimes also vertebral) artery, and some groups measure at the middle...

Abstract
Background: Cerebral hypoperfusion before syncope has been shown in patients with chronic orthostatic intolerance (OI) without tachycardia, but it is unknown if an initial decrease of cerebral blood flow velocity (CBFv) could be related to the vasovagal response (VVR) to head-up tilt...

The newsbrief posting reminded me that this paper wasn't mentioned. I think it may be a pretty important hypothesis for ME's root cause. It fits what I believe is the root cause of ME: that neuroglia are involved. I'm not sure whether there are any ME symptoms that...

Abstract
Chronic fatigue syndrome (CFS) is a complex illness, which is often misdiagnosed as a psychiatric illness. In two previous reports, using 1H MRSI, we found significantly higher levels of ventricular cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) lactate in patients with CFS relative to those with...

My take away from this: patients with hypocapnic cerebral hypoperfusion present the same symptoms as patients with POTS but can fail a tilt test due to absence of tachycardia.
ME/CFS is also mentioned.
