It is time for our annual
HOPE fundraiser. Will you take a moment to have a look?
The pandemic has put myalgic encephalomyelitis/chronic fatigue syndrome (ME/CFS) and Workwell Foundation in the spotlight. Health and advocacy organizations continue to look to our work for advice on pacing, rehabilitation, and disability testing for COVID patients, bringing more visibility to ME/CFS.
Our work has never been more important. As many COVID patients begin to wonder if they have ME/CFS, Workwell pioneered the only test to help identify post-exertional malaise (PEM), the hallmark of ME/CFS. According to the National Academy of Sciences, our 2-day cardiopulmonary exercise testing (CPET) is an objective measure of PEM. Workwell's protocol is the gold standard in ME/CFS research and disability testing.
As with many small businesses and nonprofits, Workwell has been
hit hard by the pandemic. We had to close our doors for several months only to be knocked back again by the California wildfire smoke shortly after re-opening. Our research with Cornell University’s NIH ME/CFS Collaborative Research Center was also shut down for nearly 9 months.
Despite these setbacks, we’ve been working! Since the pandemic, Workwell has been very productive:
- We published three papers in the journal Work;
- We participated in seven webinars/podcasts on disability, energy management, and pacing for ME/CFS and longhaulers;
- We developed helpful educational material for patients on the topics of post-exertional malaise and energy management;
- We continue to offer our continuing education course through MedBridge to identify and manage people with ME/CFS.
Can you help us bridge the gap during COVID and take our work to the next level?
Our goal is to raise
$50,000. We are grateful for a donor who has brought us $15,000 closer to our fundraising goal.
Can you help us to the finish line?
Your contributions will allow us to:
- Continue research on ME/CFS;
- Provide disability testing at a time when many longhaulers will be applying for benefits;
- Train physical and occupational therapists to work with virally-triggered illnesses such as ME/CFS and COVID;
- Develop science-based educational materials for pacing and energy management.
Your support has never been more important to us. We know that many organizations are vying for your donations, but we are uniquely positioned to
offer tools right now to help people living with chronic illnesses.
Please consider Workwell Foundation in your end-of-year giving plan. We have done so much with so little and will turn donations into research and educational materials so desperately needed during COVID.
Thank you for your ongoing support.
In solidarity,
The Workwell Team
