Bob's funeral will begin in Feltham, London, at 2pm British Summer Time on Wednesday and many of us are joining in a one-minute silence to remember him at that time. We invite you to join us.

People overseas are welcome to join in, either at the same time (this will show you when it's 2pm in the UK at your location) or at 2pm in your local time.

Bob's sister Vicki (@vickster) has created a JustGiving page for him, with some photos and some lovely words and background on Bob from his family. If you click 'read more', you can see below the web address for the Open Medicine Foundation and if you scroll further down, there are links to the UK charities, including two ME ones (the ME Association and Invest in ME).

If you'd like to add a message to Bob's memorial thread at that time, it's here.

I will be there having my moment of silence but the silence will likely be broken by the sound of me crying very very loudly.:cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry::cry: ...

If we post about observing the silence, maybe we could do so on Bob's In Memory page? There are a number of possible threads but I think it would be nice to have the posts all in the same place.

I think it needs a new thread to bring attention specifically to the one-minute's silence, since it's time-sensitive and many people may have forgotten it and likely won't read a new message on an existing thread. Would it be OK to keep this thread separate, please? After tomorrow, I expect it will simply sink away when it's no longer needed.

@Sasha Is the moment of silence on the 10th (today) like this thread title or the 11th (tomorrow) which I'd read in another post? Can you clarify?

Sorry, I wasn't clear. There's no problem with this thread, it's fine as a stand alone reminder. I just thought, when it comes to 2 pm in my part of the world I might acknowledge it in a post, and maybe the In Memory thread would be a good place to keep it and others like it as the time shifts through the time zones.

Sorry, that's sounding bossy, it wasn't meant to be. :banghead:

Not bossy at all, please don't worry! :)

In terms of being noticed, would it be OK to keep it in this general news section for now? The In Memory section seems fine for static things but as a place to announce events, it didn't really seem quite the right place. Although I use the forum by hitting the 'New posts' button, a lot of people just search by forum and unless people have a reason to go to the In Memory forum, I think this announcement would be unlikely to be widely seen.

How about moving it to the In Memory section after 2pm Wednesday has been and gone in all local time zones?

This thread is fine - exactly where it is and for what it is doing.

It's just, when 2 pm comes here, I will go to the In Memory thread and make a post there to remember Bob.

Oh! Sorry, I completely misunderstood you. That's a nice idea. I'll add it to my OP.
