Galway Premiere of the award winning medical documentary film 'Unrest' (97 mins) about Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (M.E).

The screening of Unrest will be preceded by a brief introduction and followed by a 15-minute Q&A session, where M.E patients will reflect on their experiences of being diagnosed and accessing appropriate care and treatment. The Q&A session will also provide an opportunity to ask questions relating to M.E.

This event is open to medical/nursing/healthcare/research students and professionals with an interest in Myalgic Encephalomyelitis, as well as ME patients, their carers, friends, family and interested parties.

The venue will open at 5.00pm with the screening scheduled for 5.30pm."

Tuesday 30th January is a big moment for raising awareness of ME in Scotland.

There will be a screening and discussion for SMPs at Scottish Parliament on 30th January, 6-8pm hosted by Ben Macpherson, MSP. It will include a 20 minute excerpt from the film. Jennifer Brea, Director of Unrest, will be speaking at the reception via Skype. Other speakers include the author Nasim Jafry; and a number of key Scottish ME advocates have also been invited. There will be a chance for MSPs to meet these people including representatives from ME charities, volunteers, carers and most importantly people with ME.

We need as many SMPs in attendance as possible - and one of the best ways to get them there is if they get a personal request from their constituency!

Please email and/or call your SMP today, asking them to attend the Unrest screening and conversation about ME. You can find a sample note below. Note, everyone has already been invited – this is just to give some extra encouragement and raise awareness of the film and the issue, even if your SMP cannot attend.

I'm excited, because I just found out about the first screening of Unrest in Berlin. It will be the third screening in Germany in total and the best thing is that it's not organized by a patient organization (the others were organized by the German Association), but a documentary film club. Because of that it might reach completely different people who have never heard of ME. :)

 
The biggest ME organization in Germany (Fatigatio) is very unprofessional (and thinks that bedridden pwME should be activated). I was surprised to read that they organize an Unrest screening. I guess it's organized by some active members because it's at the other end of Germany, but the Fatigatio put it on their homepage and it looks like their event. When I googled the event today, I saw that all cinema programs in the region advertise the wrong Unrest, the horror trash from 2006. Don't know if I should :laugh: or :cry:.

This fail aside, (hopefully our) Unrest is shown March 10 and 12 at Promenadenplatz 1, 72250 Freudenstadt in BW (south of Germany).

was meant to advertise it, maybe I should have made that clearer. :)

I also found the cinema after a lot of googeling and am sure that the real Unrest is shown by now. But it might not be the best strategy to attract visitors to advertise another movie (in 3 local programs) and on top of that a movie with very bad ratings from 2006 and it's a lost opportunity to raise awareness.

As it's a trash doctor movie as I saw we PwME could even relate to that: Experiences in the doctors office, doctors going mad etc. :rofl::rofl::rofl:. Ok bad bad joke...sorry for that.

The Irish ME/CFS Association is pleased to announce that it has arranged four free screenings of the documentary Unrest, on Myalgic Encephalomyelitis/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (ME/CFS), for May 12th, International ME/CFS Awareness Day.

These are the venue details:

Dublin: Carlton Hotel, Dublin Airport, Old Airport Road, Cloghran, Co. Dublin.

Galway: Connacht Hotel, Old Dublin Road, Galway.

Limerick: The Great National South Court Hotel, Raheen Roundabout, Raheen, Limerick.

Sligo: Sligo Southern Hotel, Strandhill Road, Sligo.

Each screening will start at 2.30pm

Each screening will be followed by a chance to chat to others over tea and coffee.
