Does " based at " have specific relevance anymore ?
If we embrace tech a bit more this could have far wider applicability and opportunities perhaps for someone with mild ME.
The only thing I have had to go to our office for since March is to pick up large format drawings and specialist survey equipment . All our admin is handled remotely.

Knowing no more than I have shared above, my assumption would be that those roles, for some reason, can't be done remotely - not every job can be practically done at a distance.

That's true, however even reducing the time needed in an office to on e a week / once a fortnight etc may offer more possibilities.

I think COVID19 has accomplished in less than a year the digital working revolution Google and Microsoft etc have been trying to promote for years.
It is however easily rolled back if we revert to previous mindsets about how we plan, action and promote things

ETA my Swedish relatives were working completely from home , were then required to go into workspace for twice a week and once a fortnight. Now it's back to home working.
What they do hasn't changed, productivity is slightly up. Downside is lack of social contact , so periodic office trips were good.

There are balances that can be made to work for most people who are not key workers ( medical / retail / transport etc)
