I highly doubt that books are fact checked for accuracy before publishing. For example, look at some of the ridiculous self-help medical books that are published. If they were fact checked beforehand, they would never have seen the light of day.

Actually, the original version, Plague, was published by S&S. The 2020 verion, Plague of Curruption, is published by Skyhorse, an independent publisher. Perhaps S&S didn't wasn't interested this time around. The idea that publishers are carefully fact-checking anything is a fallacy.

Self-help medical books invariably include a disclaimer saying that they are not to be relied upon as medical advice!

I did search the forum for 'Mikovits' before posting. Was this in another place?

Maybe everyone got bored with XMRV by the time S4ME was set up but many here discussed the issues elsewhere. I think there was discussion of XMRV on S4ME at one stage. Maybe the threads got put away because they raised so much bickering and very little science.

Edit: I had a look . There are plenty of threads including Mikovits.

They published the new book to look just like the old book with a similar title and capitalize on the fact that the earlier one was S&S, I would guess.
