If they aren't bringing any evidence, what is the point of the talk?
Inspiration?

Or I’d guess the script is that Garner presents himself as specimen A

Then sharpe comes in with his rousing dream where all illness is seen as psychological in origin

And his discovery of garner shows what can be done when someone has been motivated in the right way or something

But who knows there might be some new material where things are joined up or explained etc,

And I know it’s all sounding a bit am-dram but then…

I’m just intrigued what sort of special effects or scenery techniques they are going to use for the snorkeling in Grenada whilst still apparently very ill scene

I guess Garner will present the same PowerPoint slides he did at the SIRPA conference in May this year?

From a photograph of his slides:
In summary
  • Biomedical ideology/dogma/fanaticism has trumped EVIDENCE
  • Medical establishment is a complicit
  • NICE should be ashamed
  • ME/CFS Activist Societies should be CHALLENGED
  • Research is being misdirected
  • DHSC should be told that government policy is causing disability

Propaganda, pure and simple.

-----------

In summary
  • Biomedical ideology/dogma/fanaticism has trumped EVIDENCE
  • Medical establishment is a complicit
  • NICE should be ashamed
  • ME/CFS Activist Societies should be CHALLENGED
  • Research is being misdirected
  • DHSC should be told that government policy is causing disability
Two can play that game:

In summary
  • Psychosomatic ideology/dogma/fanaticism has trumped EVIDENCE
  • Medical establishment is a complicit
  • NICE should be ashamed for allowing the psychosomatic cult to have such a corrupting influence on the guidelines
  • BPS Activist Societies should be CHALLENGED
  • Research is being misdirected
  • DHSC should be told that government policy is causing disability
Etc.

On the positive, presumably there will be debate afterwards, if Oxford uni can provide some students with teenagers experience of m.e or CFS it would be good to see the challenge. It would be good to see more live debates (challenge of nonsense biopsychosocial framework) because the ones with influence just print stuff & block

Paul Garner?

Has he actually appeared publicly with SHarpe before?
yes, they became a bit of a double act a while ago.

If they aren't bringing any evidence, what is the point of the talk?
Never stopped them before. They did their entire career like this, they just copy-paste the same idea and people throw money at them anyway. Their method is flooding the zone with cheap bullshit and repeating it again and again, evidence has never mattered one way or another.
