This seems to be a new initiative:

Introducing #OMFScienceWednesday! Every Wednesday, our Research Liaison Raeka Aiyar from Stanford University will post on Facebook about the science that OMF is supporting: background on key areas, updates on the latest research, explanations of topics relevant to ME/CFS… be sure to like our Facebook page or follow us on Twitter so you don’t miss out!

More here: https://www.omf.ngo/science-wednesday/

The first one was 29 Oct: https://www.omf.ngo/2017/10/29/introducing-omfsciencewednesday/

And the next, 1 Nov: https://www.omf.ngo/2017/11/01/personalized-medicine/

I found both of them via the https://www.omf.ngo/science-wednesday/ page without having to go to Facebook.

Good to see something coming out about the science every week but of course we're all impatient for something substantive to come out in terms of findings...

I was going to post a thread but spotted this one..........not sure of the significance but read this comment by JD on PR:

"....we have just learned that how some of the biobanks have archived their samples makes it such that they won't work for our studies. They were stored incorrectly or processed too slowly. Many things really matter: the type of tubes, the speed of processing after the draw, the temperature it's stored at, how fast it's frozen, etc."

@JaimeS (?)

That doesn't surprise me. I think the processes are set up for certain types of samples. I seem to remember reading the gene expression work needed very fresh samples.

I'm also concerned about the whole freezing process given the latest Newton paper which shows frozen and fresh samples separately and they seem to form different clusters.

Should we make an own thread with a collection of these Science Wednesday posts? Here's today's
What do T cells and B cells do?
I find them educational and interesting, but not sure if each post should have their own individual thread, or if it is better to collect them in one place..
