OMEGA (Oxford M.E. Group for Action) AGM - Guest speaker Caroline Struthers 14 March 2020

Thanks @slysaint for posting, it was on our to-do list. Thanks as well to @Caroline Struthers for her willingness to speak at our AGM. Look forward to this.
AGM will last max of 15 months minutes, then Caroline’s talk, plus a Q&A session. And not forgetting the all important break for refreshments and rest, or, more likely, chatting to other attendees.

This looks set to be a great event, fab you've got Caroline speaking. Is there any chance anyone would be able to livestream it? I'm sure members of Sheffield ME and Fibromyalgia Group would be interested. (All that's needed is a phone, Facebook page and some sort of tripod plus gaffa tape if you don't have a proper phone mount)

Will check with our guru on these matters. As it doesn’t require editing afterwards that eases the burden. Oh, and need to check @Caroline Struthers is happy about it as well.

wow that's some agm:D
We do pretty well with AGM’s ;) Venue is basic but cheap, so fingers crossed the refreshments are nice, using a new-to-us company to cater.
We haven’t ticketed this event, but if ‘huge’ numbers plan to show up, please let us know for planning purposes, thanks! Enquire.omega@gmail.com
Oops, that’s what we forgot to include on the poster, contact details!

Thanks, @Adam pwme Our committee has now discussed this and a live stream is unlikely, but plan is to record the talk only and post together with slides — which eliminates a lot of the work. But I’ll pass on your offer as putting the two together is ideal but takes time.
We won’t record the q&a for privacy reasons.
And we also need to be sure our speaker happy to do this.

@Adam pwme thank you so much for the offer of help editing, I often don't have time so videos sit waiting for ages. I will video it and record sound separately, and hopefully quickly sync it up and should be fine. However ,if the lighting conditions are tricky I will expose for the speaker, then manually editing in the slides does make it easier for people to follow, and your help may well be welcome for that. It all depends on the day, and how complex her talk is.So a huge thank you again, Spangle :-)

No worries, just give me a shout. Looking forward to see it.

We on the OMEGA committee are closely monitoring the implications of the Covid-19 virus spread and how it might affect our AGM.

At present (Tuesday 10 March) we plan to continue with the meeting as advertised, in part because it has been 18 months since our last AGM and we are obligated to hold one. We are taking the usual sensible precautions, but obviously any gathering carries some risk, so please use your own judgement about attending or not — much as we’d love to see you there, we do understand.

We are already planned to film Caroline’s talk, and will send a link when that is up on YouTube.

If we have to make any last minute changes, we will publicise this on Facebook and Twitter, and send round another email. Otherwise, looking forward to seeing all who can make it on Saturday 14 March at 2pm at Rosehill Community Centre.

Kind Regards
The OMEGA Committee

Yes, it is going ahead, looking forward to hearing from Caroline — the select few who can come. :)

The room is quite large so no need to be that close to others. The Good Gym volunteers will be supporting again; if anyone needs assistance, please ask. And there will be cake! :cake:

Please do let us know who you are if from this forum, I’d love to put names to faces.

4 GoodGymers went to help OMEGA, Oxfordshire M.E. Group for Action with their AGM and talk.

We helped set up chairs, made cups of tea, took photos for their newsletter. We also helped set up their projector and laptop and signposted people where to go when coming to the Rose Hill Community Center.

It was a smaller gathering as expected due to the Coronavirus But there were enough people to make a valid and legal AGM which was vital for the group, and to make a video of the talk by Caroline Struthers.

We learned lots about M.E. there is more on OMEGAs site and also Sience for ME. They also referenced the David Tuller talk GoodGym helped at last year.

We also handed out food from Oxfords Waste2Taste which tasted yummy!!
there are photos of the meeting/slides etc
