New Zine for those living with IACCs

A good friend of mine has just launched a "zine" - a small, limited-release online magazine - for those living with infection-associated chronic conditions.

They're looking for submissions of any writing (e.g., poetry, prose, personal experiences, factual information about conditions) or images (e.g., artwork, photographs) that could be included within a magazine. Any written work should be no longer than 1000 words.

The theme for the first edition is "getting sick" - the intention is for it to be read mostly by people living with these illnesses, particularly those in the earlier stages who are just adapting to what has hit them.

Because the zine is new, they expect to be able to include all submissions.

As they hope to share the zine at low/no cost (e.g., physical zines sold only for cost of printing and postage), they can't offer compensation to those who submit their work. This will hopefully change for future editions.

Having followed S4ME for quite a while, I know there is so much talent and knowledge embedded within this community. It's definitely a much more scientifically-oriented community, but I'd imagine there may be a few people who'd fancy writing about the theme. I personally wrote a somewhat breezy little narrative about falling ill in the first place - it was surprisingly cathartic to write.

Here is the link for submission:

Please feel free to direct message me either here on instagram (_ra_vee) if you want any more information, or to bounce around some ideas. The zine's email is stillsickzine@gmail.com

This is a really neat idea. Thanks for sharing!

I would be curious to know where I can find it when it’s published. Also, for anyone submitting, it might be helpful to know if there is a deadline for sending in material.

Sorry yes - I should've said. The deadline is 20th July (though there may be some flexibility)
