My life in sex: the 60-year-old with ME

Due to a combination of physical disabilities, the days of falling into bed with a stranger are over
.....
It’s now a decade since I had a sexual partner. I have ME and arthritis, which means my days of falling into bed with a stranger are over. Any potential partner would first have to be instructed into my peculiarities: which limbs don’t move where, how to avoid my hiatus hernia, breathlessness, etc. Not to mention my need of sleeping pills, earplugs and an eye mask, which are not sexy, nor conducive to intimacy.

ME is explicitly (ha, pun unintended) mentioned only twice, in the title and in the quoted text above, and that's it - other than that the author just discusses her physical limitations.

oh dear the Guardian just :banghead:
To be honest, I took the article as a good sign (in regards to ME). The fact that it features in the headline, but there is no mention of "disputed illness" or "psychological" or any of the usual rubbish that accompanies mention of ME - the article just assumes that everybody reading it is happy to accept that it's a condition that brings certain physical limitations with it. Apart from being in the headline, ME is given the same status as arthritis in the article, it's nice to see it normalised like that.

fair point @Andy I was just coming at it from the hardly any coverage in the Guardian other than the stories area and not anywhere near the real issues
