#MEAction, in partnership with Patient-Led Research Collaborative, has published a new Clinician’s Pacing Guide.

From an email announcement:
#MEAction said:
"This updated version has cited resources for clinicians. You can print off this guide and bring it to a doctor’s visit. With both patients and clinicians in mind, we believe this resource will be useful to providing education to clinicians who are just learning about PEM, as well as clinicians who want to dig deeper."

The language in the clinician's guide is geared towards those who care for adults.
For clinicians who care for children please refer them to the pediatric pacing guide (https://www.meaction.net/wp-content/uploads/2022/08/Pediatric-Guide-to-Pacing-2.pdf) .

Here's the #MEAction web page with links to all three Pacing And Management Guides and a brief description of each one:

https://www.meaction.net/resource/pacing-and-management-guide/
The #MEAction Pacing Guides discuss pacing, a self-management strategy for activity useful in infection-associated chronic illnesses like ME/CFS and Long COVID, where post-exertional malaise (PEM) is a feature. Each guide discusses PEM and ‘radical rest’, and gives examples of how to adapt vital activities, including breaking longer activities into smaller, more manageable tasks.

#MEAction created the Pacing and Management Guide early in 2020 in anticipation of those who would develop infection-associated chronic disease due to SARS-CoV-2.

Developed in conjunction with Long COVID Families, the Pediatric Pacing and Management Guide is oriented toward caregivers of kids and teens. In addition to the pacing and management advice offered in the original, the pediatric guide offers some suggestions for school accommodations.

Developed in conjunction with the Patient-Led Research Collaborative, the Clinician’s Pacing and Management Guide is a fully-referenced resource that includes information on diagnostic coding, documenting ME/CFS and Long COVID, and other issues relevant to medical providers.
