I'm with @Valentijn on being careful with muscle use. I reminded myself how much this matters recently by doing too much of a jigsaw puzzle in one sitting (20 minutes instead of my usual 5 minutes). All that arm movement increased my arm, shoulder and neck muscle pain horribly for a couple of days.

And they don't have a category for 'I can't use most pain killers because they give me horrible side effects'. Or, 'my doctor wouldn't give me opiates if I asked'.

But it's a good idea for a survey. I just won't be filling it in.

Edit: Changed my mind. Said nothing is effective, since that's actually my experience.

Lying down and waiting 12-48 hours until it stops. Nothing else works.
