General thread on functional disorders in Sweden

One interesting thing about the presentation is that she describes functional disorders as being the same thing as psychosomatic disorders.

I'm don't think the functional people usually admit this.

See page 4.
They’ve started justifying the change to the name «functional» because it meets less resistance among patients. In other words, they are optimising their gaslighting.

More functional stuff…

The Swedish Society for General Medicine (SFAM) has devoted a large part of the latest issue of its journal AllmänMedicin to functional symptoms. Several of the authors are familiar from this thread, such as Arwa Josefsson and Carl Sjöström. They have even invited Per Fink's colleague Marianne Rosendal to write an article about Danish healthcare for functional symptoms.

Unfortunately, it is not possible to automatically translate the entire journal, but if you click on the small paper icon at the bottom left the article will open in a format that can be copied and pasted into any translation program.

Yet another presentation about functional things for health care workers in Sweden:

This is a large one with 153 slides. I mentions ME/CFS as a functional condition.

This time it is Carl Sjöström who is the guilty party.

Carl Sjöström is the same person who participated in a pod which @The ME Inquiry Report wrote about here:

The podcast is in Swedish [link here] but I have written two posts about the content and put auto translated links here:
On successfully manipulating patients (1)
On successfully manipulating patients (2)

It seems like some of the proponents of "functionalism" in Sweden works as independent consultants that "educate" healthcare organisations about functional conditions. They basically seem to make money convincing doctors that functionalism is real.

Judging from their web sites that seems to be the case for Carl Sjöström and Arwa Jossefson.

Carls Sjöström's page:

Here you can send me a message if you are wondering what I can help with, comment on a lecture or get cost suggestions on training or tutoring.

Arwa Josefsson's page:

I regularly hold lectures and lead training and workshops around the country. Some of my special topics include [...] how to heal after long-term symptoms. I teach both health and social care professionals and the general public, with a content customised to suit requests.
[...]
You are welcome to contact me with your request for psychotherapy, or educational and tutorial requests.

There are also publish records that both Carl and Arwa holds presentations specifically about functional conditions.

Yet, in the recent article on functional conditions in Läkartidning in Sweden they did not disclose these clear conflicts of interest!

Edit: Someone should write to Läkartidningen about this. I plan to do it, but now I have to rest my poor head for a while, so it might take me days to weeks to get around to it. If anyone else want to do it, please DM me so we don't duplicate the work!
