Over the past year there have been some social media posts relating to how COVID-19 impacts pregnancy and can cause birth defects

This thread from X , pulls some research references together on it.
It's not looking good .

There was a systematic review earlier this year into the consequences of infection on the placenta, and there have been studies on negative health outcomes on both the mother and the child. But now there are no control groups so it's not possible to do these studies, we can really only compare against historical numbers.
