I was briefly confusing BSP (British Psychological Society) with BPS (bio psycho social), before realising the latter made no sense in this context.

Given the quality of the "thought leaders" in the field, frankly I don't think it would make any real difference. The problems with psychology are far more fundamental than this, all expertise is essentially invalidated by a broken system that allows belief systems to worm their way through EBM. The same process that validates the core tenets of clinical psychology also thinks the LP is good science, that Simon Wessely is a scientist and that Trudie Chalder deserves to be a professor. Such a process can only be described as equally random and useless as a dowsing rod.

Obviously it's also unreliable but this is one of the conclusions of decades of "work" in psychobehavioral stuff: you can replace expensive "heavily trained" high-intensity therapists with an app and/or pamphlet, exact same outcome in almost all circumstances. Most of this stuff brings exactly as much usefulness as the chair they sit on.

Real experts can't be replaced by apps and/or pamphlets. So lowering the bar would frankly not even change anything, because the assessment already allows anything to pass through as long as it maintains toxic positivity and tells physicians they aren't making any mistakes, aren't missing anything and can go on their merry way dismissing chronic illness.
