FND also gets a mention:
Likewise, many neurological conditions, including multiple sclerosis, are frequently misdiagnosed as functional neurologic disorder,[19] a diagnosis tied to several pathways of iatrogenic harm including stigma, dismissal of patients' own experience, disregard of genuine neurological disorders, and even direct harm from interactions with clinicians.[20]

The drive to deny reality is strong in the people behind this. I wonder what drives them.
Power, glory, income, sense of purpose, saviour complex, etc.

You know, the usual bag of motivations. I don't think it is any great mystery.

The much more important and disturbing question is how have they been able to so easily get away with what is in fact a fairly straightforward case of persistent and comprehensive failure. Because they could not have done this on their own. Higher powers are robustly protecting them from accountability, indeed rewarding them for their, um, service.

"Post exertional malaise (PEM) is the name given to the experience of having a dip in energy, and reduced exercise tolerance, in the days following exertion (strainful exercise)".

I think they are confusing PEM with DOMS there

My PEM is frequently confused with "have I got flu" or " have I been hit by a truck" not "slight energy dip"
