Interesting article social distancing has substantially reduced flu cases compared to previous years during winter season in Australia.

I wonder if this could be a long term thing due to changing social norms around things like covering your mouth when you sneeze, or just making little efforts to not spread germs?

I guess children are still going to be sucking each others noses and stuff.

I don't think I've ever seen a child sucking another child's nose.

It's hardly surprising that lockdown reduces the spread of other infections as well as Covid-19. Surely it would be surprising if it didn't.

I have the grim details of it burnt into my mind. I don't spend much time around children though so maybe it's not as common an occurrence as my traumatised memory suggest.

Wondering if increased hygiene has had a similar impact on norovirus and stomach bugs generally.

The difference is probably due to travel restrictions and employers not expecting their employees to come into work when ill!

It remains to be seen if this proactive behaviour will remain in 2-5 years time.
