It's very difficult to comment without risking it being actionable.

Suffice to say I am less than impressed that ..........

Medical publishing has jumped the shark.

I don't understand why the Lancet, and Horton in particular, never get any blame for the Wakefield paper. Now they are repeating an even more egregious mistake and the guy responsible for both is getting awards despite standing by the suppression of data clearly showing research the Lancet published is highly misleading at best, if not downright fraudulent.

That will look about as bad in hindsight as Wessely being awarded for demonizing sick people begging for help, aka "courage".

The whole industry has to be reformed, preferably in a way that removes the industry part and makes it a more rational and coherent process. Completely broken and clearly more political than scientific.

I would say it's unbelievable but sadly this kind of thing doesn't surprise me any more. Funny how "activist" becomes a good thing to be when it's applied to him. :banghead:

Searching for news on this I then found:

    https://www.downtoearth.org.in/news/health/health-is-about-public-leadership-who-chief-64649

Horton just says the things it would be impressive to believe, but then fails to back them up. Who could be stupid enough to be impressed by him?

Does anyone want to take on informing the foundation giving the prize of his role in the vaccine-autism and ME frauds?

Upon looking up the donor of the prize my first thought was "what has Horton done that we do not yet know about?". There are dangers in accepting the money of venture capitalists,

Does Sharpe not see any danger in this approach? People may make inferences from what he says.
